Hello

I identify a lot with the principal character Yashwant myself. Having grown in a middle class household, understanding the class systems which are designed in a way that certain classes are always controlled and feared by the others, the anger towards the unfairness of the world and the urge to put the worldly morality aside to first achieve some semblance of power and respect in the world before hiding under the shadow of morality again once one has transcended class. The inherent themes of class, family, broken family relationships is something which most viewers like me will be able to deeply identify with. But what makes The Devil extremely interesting is the marrying of these themes with high level, real world conflicts merged with powerful filmmaking thoughts and ideas it is being staged with. Having a subjective, energetic and morally ambiguous tale of this police officer and his relationships which has rarely been seen on Indian screens before and this is what I aim to achieve. The film never allows its mystery, thrill and tension to be overruled by its heart and theme at the center of it. Having been inspired by films of Martin Scorses, Christopher Nolan and Safdie brothers I am extremely passionate to tell an Indian story rooted in the sand of India and it's complexity but told in a captivating style with parallels to films like Uncut Gems, Goodfellas etc.
